Annual grants a boost for the community

We recognise that community groups are well positioned to identify and address community needs and sometimes need an extra bit of support to get worthy projects off the ground. The annual community development grant program is an ideal way for these groups to get the boost they need.

The 2016/17 Community Development Grants program was hugely successful with 21 recipients sharing more than $34,000 in grant funding. These grants will foster the development of important initatives across the region and help continue the great work of our highly motivated hills community.

We're thrilled to support a variety of intiatives with social, recreational, cultural, artistic, health and open space outcomes, amongst others.

The community led 'Gumeracha Main Street Project' will use seed funding to initatie a community development project. The Carer Wellness Centre recognises the commitment of young carers in the Adelaide Hills and the support they provide to a family member or friend. Through a program of activities, their Young Carer Program will esnure that the carer's own emotional, physical and social needs aren't ignored.

Cycling is a big part of the Hills community and we're pleased to support the Adelaide Hills Masters Cycling Club to purchase a defibrillator. With Sudden Cardiac Arrest being one of the leading causes of death in Australia, having a defibrilaltor in a community club cab make the difference between life and death.

Our Aboriginal history is important to us and as we embark on a future guided by a Reconciliation Action Plan, we are proud to support the Aldgate RSL too present the Aldgate Corroboree. The last account of a traditional corroboree being performed in Aldgate was more than 100 years ago and this community event recognises and celebrates a long held tradition.
