Adelaide Hills Youth Advisory Committee (YAC)
Who can join YAC?
YAC is for all youth aged between 12 years and 25 years who live, work or play in the Adelaide Hills Council.
If you want to make our Council's young people's voice heard, you've got to be part of YAC!
YAC membership can be tailored to your interests: you can be a 'full-on' YAC-member, or you can just be part of YAC for an issue or event that particularly interests you.
What does YAC do?
YAC members meet regularly to discuss local youth issues and develop ways to address those issues.
YAC's main goals are :
1. To present to Council about issues affecting youth in the Adelaide Hills Council area
2. To reduce boredom for Adelaide Hills youth during school holidays and after school:
YAC outcomes will include increased access to a variety of school holiday activities for 12 to 25 year olds, increased support to youth groups organising events and to access opportunities as they arise
3. To increase transport options for young people in the Adelaide Hills Council area:
YAC's outcomes will include a forum on youth transport (in cooperation with a range of stakeholders and agencies), a survey to assess youth needs and development of a report to lobby to transport services
4. To undertake further training and skills development:
YAC will develop individual training calendar and access opportunities
