In early April Council will be undertaking the application of 'Warm Mix' Asphalt to two of its roads.
The warm mix asphalt surfacing will be applied to two local roads:
Warm Mix asphalt allows the bitumen surfacing to be laid at a lower temperature and with recycled materials (from old road seals) - which means lower carbon emissions for the construction of the road seal and less waste materials to landfill.
The warm mix trials will be laid on Golf Links Road and Jeffrey St which both involve reshaping of the road to improve the surface, and a 30mm thick hotmix bitumen overlay. Council will monitor the installation of the warm mix with the view of using it for future sealing projects.
