URBAN STORMWATER MASTERPLANS

WOODSIDE

The Woodside USMP was completed in July 2011 and helped to establish the exact extents of the underground network within the catchment, in particular for pipes and pits running through properties that were previously unknown.

The modelling identified a number of areas where the system required upgrades, of which the higher priority issues were:

  • Woodside Main St - it was found due to the flat grade of the street there was insufficient pits to capture the water leading to excessive ponding and localised flooding.
  • Elizabeth St - a lack of side entry pits in Elizabeth Street close to Main St
  • Robert St to Main St - a combination of creek and underground pipe was found to be inadequate and in need of upgrade
  • Industrial Estate - Swale drains could be upgraded to provide improved water treatment before discharge to river

The modelling identified upgrades which can be seen in the attachment below with concept pipe alignments and sizes. For the Robert St drain there will be a need to finalise an alignment and obtain easements for any pipework installed.

Council has currently commenced the detailed design for the upgrades in the Main St and Elizabeth St, and for the Robert St to Main St trunk drain and Industrial Estate swale drain. You may see surveyors in the area throughout August 2011 and as the design progresses further consultation with affected (if any) property owners will take place.
