Alternative waste stations
The Heathfield Resource Recovery Centre (HRRC) is a multi-stream recycling facility where residents can recycle or dispose of their waste. The facility handles items as varied as general waste, paper and cardboard, plastics, green garden organics, metals, whitegoods, oils, tyres, x-rays, mobile phones, gas cylinders, chemicals, mattresses and polystyrene. They also offer mulch for sale.

The Heathfield Resource Recovery Centre is closed on days rated an Extreme or Catastrophic fire danger, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year's Day and Good Friday.

Items that incur a fee for disposal
The following items will be accepted with a charge applicable. Click here to check the most up-to-date schedule of fees.
- Mattresses
- Couches
- Tyres, both on and off the rim
- Non-friable asbestos (wrapped in plastic in accordance with disposal guidelines)
- Domestic waste
- Hard waste
- Construction and demolition waste
- Green organics, unless dropped off on a designated free day
Items eligible for free disposal
The following items accepted
free of charge (must be separated from other items)
- Household chemicals and liquid paint (including cleaning products)
- Clean, dry, white polystyrene
- Plastic bottles and aluminium cans
- Paper and cardboard
- Scrap metal
- Motor oil (domestic quantities only)
- Batteries and light globes, including fluorescent tubes (maximum 13 items)
- Domestic electronic waste including TVs, computers, printers, DVD players, and computer accessories (maximum 13 items)
- X-ray films
- Mobile phones
- DrumMuster
- Gas bottles and fire extinguishers
Council also holds a number of Green Organics Drop Off Days, when residents can drop off their household green waste free of charge at HRRC and pop up locations in Woodside and Gumeracha.

DrumMuster and ChemClear programs
DrumMuster – Chemical container disposal
Agricultural containers can be disposed of via the DrumMuster program. Adelaide Hills Council provides a DrumMuster drop off location at the HRRC. Bookings must be made prior to disposal by calling 8339 4323.

ChemClear - Chemical disposal for agricultural and veterinary chemicals
Agricultural and veterinary chemicals can be disposed of via
the ChemClear program.
