To prepare for the upcoming Cat Confinement by-law, bring your animal to our first mass microchipping session with Chipblitz, a volunteer run microchipping service on Saturday 3 July at the Council office in Stirling or Saturday 17 July at our office in Woodside.
Note: You don't have to be a resident of the Adelaide Hills Council Region to get your pet microchipped. Masks are required when attending Chipblitz sessions.
Locations: Adelaide Hills Council office, Stirling (63 Mount Barker Road, Stirling 5152) and Adelaide Hills Council office, Woodside (26 Onkaparinga Valley Road, Woodside 5244)
How do I prepare for Chipblitz?
Book your session from 10am-4pm here: Chipblitz | Scheduling and Booking Website (simplybook.me)
Registration: Please bring a copy of this completed registration form for each animal you are having microchipped.
How do I bring my pet? Cats must be secured in a carry cage and dogs must be on a leash
Am I allowed to get more than one pet microchipped?
Yes, as long as when you are making your booking, you book an appointment for each animal. There are numerous appointments available in each time slot.
What happens during Chipblitz and how long does it take?
On the day, you will be required to pay the fee of $10 per animal and complete the registration form for each animal. Chipblitz will then need to scan each animal - the actual microchipping will take only a minute. If people are patient and cooperative it should all flow easily and you will be done in 15 minutes.
Does microchipping hurt?
Some animals feel it more than others. A very sharp blade is attached to the implanting device so it's a quick and simple procedure. If the animal does feel pain it is only minimal and passes quickly.
Where is the microchip placed?
The chips are generally implanted between the shoulder blades or on the back of the neck.
What happens after Chipblitz?
Once your pet has been microchipped, Chipblitz's team of data entry personnel will process all registrations into Dogs and Cats online in approximately seven days.
How do I get my registration certificate?
All certificates are sent via email. If you do not have a current email address please make sure you get one prior to chipping or ask to use a friends. This is vital.
What happens if you find my pet already microchipped?
Unfortunately Chipblitz will not be able to proceed as will not be able to verify proof of ownership. You will need to contact your local vet.
