DO I NEED APPROVAL?
Building a dwelling or making an alteration to an existing dwelling will require Development Approval. Development Approval comprises both Development Plan Consent (DPC) and Building Rules Consent (BRC).
The Residential Development Code simplifies planning approvals for some common forms of residential development. In relation to new dwellings, only a small proportion of the Adelaide Hills Council area is part of the Residential Code. This is due to bushfire and waste control system requirements.

WASTEWATER SYSTEMS APPLICATION AND INFORMATION
For information on whether a property is serviced by sewer, a Council Waste Management System (CWMS), or requires an on-site waste system, visit our wastewater webpage.
All on-site wastewater system works require completion of an on-site wastewater system application form. This form covers all options including modifications to existing systems as well as applications for new installations.

NATIVE VEGETATION INFORMATION
Native vegetation in South Australia (except parts of metropolitan Adelaide) is protected. You may need to apply to clear native vegetation. This process is separate to the Development Act approval process.
These maps will show you where protection under the Native Vegetation Act applies. If you still have questions or require further information, contact your local Natural Resources Centre.
