DO I NEED APPROVAL?
Generally all above-ground
or inflatable swimming pools with a filtration system require Development
Approval, regardless of depth. Other pools with depth exceeding 300ml require
approval, as do spas with capacity greater than 680L (other criteria do apply;
refer to our Do I need approval? fact sheet.
POOL AND SPA REQUIREMENTS
Pools and spas which meet certain criteria only require Development Plan Consent, but do not require Building Rules Consent. Other swimming pools and spas require both Development Plan Consent and Building Rules Consent.
As a homeowner you also have certain obligations with regard to pool safety.
