Aldgate Primary School plants for National Tree Day at Cox Creek, Bridgewater
On Friday 1 August, Aldgate Primary School’s Year 5–6 students rolled up their sleeves for National Tree Day, continuing their long-term commitment to restoring Cox Creek in Bridgewater.
This site, next to the Oval, has been the focus of planting days in both 2019 and 2023, and the students’ efforts this year built on that earlier work while also contributing to the wider Federally funded Cox Creek Restoration Project.
Together with Council’s Biodiversity Team, the students and staff planted another 200 native plants and grasses in and around the creekline, as well as carefully managing ivy around the established eucalypts. These important actions help restore biodiversity, strengthen habitat, and improve the health of the creek.
A huge thank you goes to the Aldgate Primary School community for their energy, enthusiasm, and commitment to caring for our local environment.
It’s inspiring to see these young eco-warriors taking such pride in protecting and enhancing their patch of the Hills.
