About Constellations: Not Writers’ Week

Constellations is an umbrella festival created by writers, bookshops and organisations who were set to be involved in Adelaide Writers' Week. In the absence of the much-loved Writers’ Week in 2026, Constellations offers a space for Adelaide’s vibrant writing and reading community to gather and connect.

The festival does not seek to replace Adelaide Writers’ Week, but to celebrate writers and ensure their stories continue to be heard.

About the evening

Eva Hornung will be in conversation with Molly Murn, discussing The Minstrels, a sweeping, mythic and potent new novel set in a fictional Australian landscape shaped by both literal and figurative blight.

The story follows Gem and Will, who grow up on a farm above a chasm and pool known as the Minstrels, a site where both are broken, each by the other. One will disappear. One will, eventually, be transformed.

Through encounters with people, art, land and language, Gem is remade as the world outside shifts and time runs out. The Minstrels is an apocalyptic redemption fable that weaves the history and probable fate of the world into the life of one woman.

This promises to be a beautiful and thought-provoking conversation about wild transformation, women remaking themselves, the craft of writing, living history and much more.
