Enhancing safety across the Hills with new automatic external defibrillators installed

In a significant move to bolster public health and safety, Council have recently installed Automatic External Defibrillators (AEDs) across key locations within the region.

These life-saving devices are now accessible in various community hubs, including sports clubs, community halls, libraries, and recreational areas, providing critical support in the event of sudden cardiac arrests.

Sudden cardiac arrest is a leading cause of death in Australia, with survival rates significantly improving when defibrillation is administered promptly. AEDs are designed for use by laypersons, offering clear voice instructions to guide users through the process, ensuring timely assistance before emergency services arrive.

AEDs are designed for use by anyone, offering clear voice instructions to guide users through the process, ensuring timely assistance before emergency services arrive.

Our initiative aligns with the South Australian Government's Automated External Defibrillators (Public Access) Act 2022, which mandates the installation of AEDs in public buildings and facilities by January 2025. By proactively implementing these devices ahead of the deadline, Council have demonstrated a strong commitment to community well-being and emergency preparedness.

Residents and visitors can locate the nearest AEDs here, ensuring quick access during emergencies. We encourage everyone to familiarise themselves with AED locations and usage, as early intervention can dramatically increase survival chances in cardiac emergencies.
