Get involved in the FrogWatch SA spring census
Spring is nearly here, and that means more frog calls in our creeks, dams, and backyards. From 1–8 September, FrogWatch SA is running its spring census, and you can help collect frog data.
Taking part is easy. All you need to do is head outside during the census week and record what you hear. Frogs are usually most active in spring, so it’s a great time to listen out for their croaks and calls.
Even if you don’t hear a single frog, your recording still counts. It shows researchers where frogs aren’t, which is just as useful as knowing where they are.
How to get involved
-
Use the free FrogSpotter app to record and submit your calls.
-
If the app doesn’t work on your phone, you can upload recordings straight to the FrogWatch SA website.
So this spring, take a moment to listen. Whether it’s a noisy frog chorus or peaceful silence, your recordings will help scientists learn more about our local frog populations.
