Council By-Laws Review

Have your say on updates to our local laws

Adelaide Hills Council is inviting community feedback on the proposed Adelaide Hills Council (Miscellaneous) Amendment By-Law 2026

This amendment aims to correct a few drafting errors in the Local Government Land By-Law No. 3 of 2025, following advice from the State’s Legislative Review Committee.

The updates include:

  • Clarifying that the definition of “animal” does not include dogs
  • Ensuring lawful fishing activities are correctly exempt
  • Fixing incorrect cross-references in several clauses to make the rules clearer and consistent

You can view the draft Amendment By-Law 2026 in the Document Library on our website.

The current By-Law No. 3 (2025) will remain in effect until the revised version is endorsed by the Legislative Review Committee in early 2026, at which point the corrections will take effect.

We welcome your feedback to help ensure our local laws are clear, consistent, and fair for everyone in the Adelaide Hills community.
