News from the Chamber from the Acting Mayor, Nathan Daniell
In support of our vibrant and active community, Council passed my motion to increase Community Grants funding by $18,500. This commitment will be cost neutral by using revenue generated from the Stirling Market road closure.
Council also adopted the Native Vegetation and Conservation Encroachment Policy, reflecting our strong commitment to environmental stewardship. The policy provides an innovative framework to protect the environment and safeguard areas of conservation value on local government land and roads.
Cr Lucy Huxter has been appointed as Acting Deputy Mayor – Congratulations, Lucy. I look forward to working closely with Lucy until the conclusion of the Mayoral supplementary election in February.
We also received a petition regarding the naming of a bridge in Mount Torrens. Council endorsed the name “Andy Bennett Bridge.” and will seek approval from DIT for the name change.
Earlier in the month, Council endorsed new terms of reference for the Adelaide Hills Reconciliation Working Group and appointed Cr Leith Mudge as our representative, with Cr Lisa Clare Woolcock as proxy.
Finally, we recognised and thanked David Collins along with his team for their outstanding work in successfully managing the Amy Gillett extension project.
