Temporary Cox Creek Trail closures begin late January
Sections of the Cox Creek trail along the Bridgewater section of the Cox Creek Restoration Project corridor will be temporarily closed from late January 2026 as Adelaide Hills Council contractors begin tree removal works.
The trail will be closed in stages over the coming months to ensure public safety while these works are underway.
Advance signage will be installed to clearly identify which sections of the trail are closed at any given time.
The closures are necessary to support important environmental works, including the removal of invasive trees and weeds such as willows and ash. These species displace native vegetation, degrade water quality, alter creek channels, reduce habitat for wildlife, and increase fire risk.
The project aims to improve water quality, strengthen biodiversity, and build long-term resilience of the Cox Creek catchment for the benefit of both the environment and the community.
This project is funded by the Australian Government’s Natural Heritage Trust under the Urban Rivers and Catchments Program, with support from Adelaide Hills Council.
Council thanks the community for their patience during these temporary closures. For enquiries, please contact 8408 0400 or mail@ahc.sa.gov.au
