Your unwanted clothes deserve a second chance!

Adelaide Hills Council has partnered with Green Industries SA and AHRWMA to offer a FREE clothing donation and linen recycling event on Saturday November 1

Set your clothes free

Your unwanted clothes deserve a second chance!

Following success of the inaugural Set your clothes free textiles collection event in May 2025, Green Industries SA is again partnering with local councils and charities to help South Australians donate their unwanted, high-quality clothing and pass on their unwanted household linens for recycling.

On Saturday 1 November, from 9 am to 3 pm, 13 drop-off points will be open for residents to drop off unwanted textiles.

Australians are the world’s biggest consumers of fashion, purchasing an average of 53 items of clothing per person each year – but a significant portion of those end up unworn or underused, buried in wardrobes and destined for landfill.

Set your clothes free focuses on collecting clothing items that are genuinely reusable and giving them a second life in charity stores, and easing the burden placed on charity stores that can become overwhelmed with poor-quality donations that can’t be re-sold.

All types of clothing and footwear that are unwanted, but still in good enough condition to be worn will be accepted to be donated to partnering charities. If the items are good enough to give to a friend or family member to wear, then they’re good enough to be donated.

Household linens, including bedding, bath towels, kitchen towels, curtains and more can also be dropped off.

Any household linens still in good condition will be donated to our participating charities for resale, while linens in unusable condition will be processed and recycled.

The Heathfield Resource Recovery Centre at 32 Scott Creek Road, Heathfield, will be open from 9 am to 3 pm on Saturday 1 November.
