For Youth Week 2026, the Adelaide Hills and Mount Barker councils present the film Future Council.
As part of Youth Week 2026, the Adelaide Hills Council and the Mount Barker District Council are proud to present a special screening of the inspiring documentary Future Council at Wallis Cinema, Mount Barker.
This powerful film follows young people who step up to tackle big issues in their communities and shows what’s possible when youth voices are heard and taken seriously. It’s a story about leadership, courage, collaboration and creating real, lasting change.
After the screening, hear directly from young people across our communities as they share their experiences, ideas and passion for making a difference. Youth Development Officers from both councils will also be there to connect with you, answer questions and explore how you can get involved locally.
This event is open to young people aged 12–25 who are curious about:
Having a stronger voice in their community
Influencing decisions that affect young people
Building leadership skills and confidence
Connecting with like-minded peers
Turning ideas into action
Whether you’re already involved or just starting to think about how you can make a difference, this is your opportunity to learn what’s possible.
We’re also exploring the opportunity to form a group of interested young people from across our districts who would like to continue the conversation through hands-on learning workshops connected to the film. These workshops focus on practical skills, civic engagement and creating positive change, and could be the starting point for something powerful in our region.
Come along, bring a friend, and be part of a conversation.
Your voice matters. Your ideas matter. And together, we can create meaningful change in our communities.
