
Towns celebrated as Santos Tour Down Under rolls through the Hills

Santos Tour Down Under has come and gone for 2023. Find out who reigned Champion.
The Santos Tour Down Under travelled through the Hills during January 2023.
Adelaide Hills Council hosted two stages, including Singapore Airlines Women's Stage 2 from Birdwood to Uraidla on Monday 16 January, and the Schwalbe Men's final Stage 5 finish at Mount Lofty on Sunday 22 January.
TDU also travelled through the Adelaide Hills on Tuesday 17 January for the Let's Go Homes Women's Stage 3 and Friday 20 January for the Hahns Men's Stage 3 and Challenge Tour.
The formidable Mount Lofty made its first Santos Tour Down Under appearance for the final day of racing.
Riders left from the inner-south suburb of Unley and travelled up the old freeway, with the end of race neutral at the notorious Devil’s Elbow.
Next up the peloton rode four passes of 25-kilometre loop of Summertown, Uraidla, Carey Gully, Bridgewater, Aldgate, Stirling and Crafers.
Spectators enjoyed seeing the townships come alive with perfect weather, hospitality, roving entertainment and family friendly activities.

The Singapore Airlines Women's Stage 2 started in Birdwood on the grounds of the iconic National Motor Museum before travelling through Williamstown, Gumeracha, Lobethal and Forest Range, and finishing in Uraidla. The Uraidla township was buzz with spectators, cyclists and locals enjoying the beautiful weather and the wonderful sunflower and bee decorations throughout Uraidla, Summertown and neighbouring homes. Uraidla and Summertown were well deserving winners of the Best Dressed Town competition for Stage 2.
This stage saw the women climb a grueling 1773m, including one of Adelaide’s toughest and iconic ascents – Corkscrew Road.
Stage winner was Grace Brown of FOJ- Suez.
The peloton took off in Norwood and tackled three of Adelaide’s toughest ascents, navigating Norton Summit, Checkers Hill and Corkscrew Road before finishing in Campbelltown.

The Challenge Tour will also be travelling through the region on Friday 20 January, tackling the same Men's Stage 3 route that the elite riders are set to race hours later. A trio of iconic local ascents will feature: Norton Summit, Checker Hill and Corkscrew Road.
