Santos Tour Down Under 2026 – Adelaide Hills

The Santos Tour Down Under will race through the Adelaide Hills this January, bringing plenty of excitement as well as some temporary road and traffic disruptions.

Key race highlights:

  • A thrilling finish in Paracombe on January 18 for Health Partners Stage 2 of the women's race
  • Men's Health Partners Stage 2 finish in Uraidla, on January 22 where last year’s Best Dressed Town will once again showcase their hospitality and community spirit. Also featuring the Summertown Live Site - a free spectator zone buzzing with live race coverage on the big screen, delicious BBQ and ice blocks, and family-friendly entertainment.
  • The efex Men’s Stage 5 grand finale on Sunday 25 January, with riders completing eight loops around Stirling, Aldgate, Mylor, and Heathfield, attracting an expected 100,000 spectators
Tour Down Under routes and road closures through the Hills
Sunday 18 January Magill to Paracombe
Health Partners Women's Stage 2: Magill to Paracombe. Complete closure and parking restrictions on Paracombe Road from Tilmouth Road to Hurst Road from 6:00am – 7:00pm with rolling stoppages and traffic restrictions along the route from 11am - 3pm

Thursday 22 January Norwood to Uraidla
Health Partners Men's Stage 2: Complete road closure and parking restrictions on Greenhill Rd between Swamp Rd and Days Rd in Uraidla from 6:00am – 7:00pm with rolling stoppages and traffic restrictions across the race route between 11am - 3.30pm.

Sunday 25 January eight laps beginning and ending in Stirling
efex Men's Stage 5: Complete road closure and parking restrictions on Mt Barker Rd from Avenue Rd to Gould Rd from 5am - 7pm with rolling stoppages along the route between 11am -3.30pm.

Sunday 25 January spectator experiences:

  • Race starts at 11am near the Stirling Oval
  • Local food and great viewing areas in Stirling, Aldgate, and Mylor
  • Stirling Market on Druids Avenue
  • Kids zone at Steamroller Park, complete with a face painter
  • Chill-out zone with big screen on the shady lawns outside the library
  • Podium and main stage action at the start/finish line at Stirling Oval
  • Live spectator site on Mylor Oval with big screen, food, and activities

Sunday 25 January road closures & traffic information:

  • Full closure: Mt Barker Rd Stirling, between Avenue Road and Gould Road, 5:00am – 7:00pm (tow-away zone)
  • Rolling stoppages: along the race route from approximately 11:00am – 3:30pm, impacting:
    • Mt Barker Road
    • Strathalbyn Road
    • Bradbury Road
    • Longwood Road
    • Avenue Road

The race will pass through Aldgate, Mylor, Bradbury, Heathfield, and Stirling up to seven times, so travel around the district may be difficult. Please plan ahead and allow extra travel time.

 

Sunday 25 January TDU Shuttle Bus:

Adelaide Hills Council will be running a free shuttle bus from Crafers to Stirling along the Piccadilly Rd and Old Mount Barker Rd. Jump on at any of the stops and we will drop you in the heart of Stirling – the Stirling Coventry Library.

The Department of Infrastructure and Transport are making it safer for pedestrians to cross Main Street in Crafers by installing a raised Wombat Crossing. In addition, a 40km/h speed limit will be introduced between Mt Lofty Summit Road and Piccadilly Road
