Positive ageing involves maintaining a positive attitude and independence, keeping active and healthy, feeling good about yourself and your lifestyle as you age.

The Hills Positive Ageing Project promotes positive ageing and supports aged care providers to develop quality services for older Hills residents in the Adelaide Hills, Mount Barker and western Alexandrina (Strathalbyn) Council areas.

The Hills Positive Ageing Strategy 2020 is the document that guides project activities and the creation of positive ageing opportunities across the Hills.

The strategy aims to help people age positively in their own community through:

  • the built environment
  • positive attitudes and image
  • community connection and participation
  • sustainable service delivery
  • employment and volunteerism.

Council's Age Friendly Community Strategy was adopted in October 2017.
