Food Organics Garden Organics FOGO Waste Trial

Food Organics Garden Organics (FOGO) Trial

The Food Organics Garden Organics (FOGO) trial will expand across Balhannah, Charleston, Lobethal, Oakbank, Woodside townships from November 2025, following positive results from the 2023 trial.

East Waste will begin collecting the green-lidded organics bin collections weekly and blue-lidded waste collections will move to fortnightly. Yellow recycling bins will continue to be collected fortnightly.

The aim of the bin collection change is to improve environmental impact by decreasing the amount of waste that goes to landfill, particularly organic waste.

Beginning in February 2026, Council will evaluate the outcomes and financial implications from the expanded trial. It is expected that this service will continue beyond the trial phase and be rolled out in other township areas.
