News from the Chamber by Acting Mayor Nathan Daniell
Acting Mayor Nathan Daniell at the Recycling Wall Hub at the Stirling Library

It was great to finally have some decent rain across our Council area - although I’m sure it has provided some challenges for the capital works team out in the field.

This month, Council considered some important matters for our organisation. This included the adoption of the CEO’s Key Performance Indicators for 2025/26. The KPIs will ensure our focus remains on delivering important initiatives in line with the Strategic Plan.

Council approved a submission regarding the draft South Australian Waste Strategy 2025-2030. Our submission emphasised the need for more ambitious actions for product stewardship, manufacturing restrictions, and industry transition support. Council will continue to take a leading role with respect to sustainable practices.

Council approved a submission to the Office of Local Government about their draft Charter for Consultation by Councils. The charter is an important initiative that will outline future community consultation requirements for Council. We suggested several changes to reflect modern communication processes which, if adopted, will improve how we communicate with residents.

Finally, we approved road closures for the 2025 Adelaide Hills Rally which will draw tourists to the Adelaide Hills, providing important economic and social benefits for our region.

Keep warm!

Nathan
