The Adelaide Hills Council is committed to maintaining high standards of corporate and financial governance and is currently seeking expressions of interest for an independent member to serve on its Audit and Risk Committee.

The Committee consists of two (2) Council Members and three (3) Independent Members on staggered terms.

Opportunities Available

Adelaide Hills Council is seeking one (1) Independent Member for a term of up to four (4) years commencing 1 July 2025. Independent Members are eligible to re-submit an application for reappointment at the end of each term until continuous service of eight (8) years.

Role Overview

The overall role of the Audit and Risk Committee is to provide independent assurance and advice to Council on accounting, financial management, internal controls, risk management, and governance matters.

Duties Required

Independent Members of the Audit and Risk Committee will need to demonstrate recent and relevant skills and experience in disciplines such as, but not limited to, public sector accounting & financial management, risk management, administrative law, compliance, internal audit, and governance. Council seeks to achieve diversity amongst the Audit and Risk Committee membership.

It is anticipated that the Audit and Risk Committee will meet a minimum of six (6) times per year. Sitting fees will be paid to the successful appointees and Independent Members will be required to comply with the relevant provisions of the Local Government Act 1999.
