Support for Community Events

The Adelaide Hills is the perfect setting for a range of community events and the Council is committed to help supporting the delivery of events that bring social and economic benefit to the region.

Public community events

Community events are an important part of the fabric that makes the Adelaide Hills a great place to live and visit. Council encourages the community to develop events that meet a need, bring people together, or celebrate something great, and Council staff are available to assist with concept development, application processing, and in-kind support wherever possible.

All event organisers should review and understand the Council's Festivals and Events Policy.

Timeframes

Event organisers should be sure to allow sufficient time for Council to process requests.

With limited resources and multiple events occurring in the region, the Policy requests a minimum of three months' notice for event applications (events that fall under exceptional categories are listed in the policy appendices and may require more than this).

Where an event arises within three months, event organisers should first call Council to discuss requirements and expedite assistance if possible.

Support cannot be guaranteed if sufficient notice is not provided, however Council will work with event organisers for best possible outcomes.

Forms and information to be returned to Council

Event organisers will need to complete forms in order to apply for Council support.

These are available in one place, along with an event organiser checklist, helpful contacts, and example template documents, in the Festivals and Events Toolkit. This toolkit is available below to download as a whole, or elements may be downloaded individually.

Useful planning documents for event organisers

Here are some practical tips and checklists for making events accessible and inclusive for people with disability. These resources are provided with permission from Purple Orange and are supported by Council for your use. The resources are from Purple Orange's Accessible and Inclusive Events Training and to learn more about this training visit their website below.

Venue hire and private events

Parks, halls and ovals are great places to hold birthday parties, sports days, and wedding ceremonies and the Adelaide Hills have a number of picturesque and family-friendly venues available for hire.

If you are interested in hiring one of the locations listed below, please complete the relevant form and return to property@ahc.sa.gov.au a minimum of nine days prior to the proposed event. This will allow time for our Property Team to review and respond to your request.

For venues and locations not listed here, please call (08) 8408 0400 for direction or download the casual hire application for public land and return to mail@ahc.sa.gov.au
