Senior Statutory Planner (This is a full-time permanent position)

This role undertakes the assessment of complex development applications in accordance with statutory timeframes whilst achieving well-balanced development outcomes and high quality customer service. This role provides specialist planning advice to applicants, members of the public and Council.

The Senior Statutory Planner represents Council at Assessment Panel meetings and in court appeals. The Senior Statutory Planner also provides professional guidance to others within the team, mentoring team members and supporting the development compliance activities.

The role reports to the Team Leader Statutory Planning

About You

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Urban and Regional Planning and extensive technical expertise working as a Planner in development assessment within local government.
  • Full membership of the Planning Institute of Australia (or be eligible to obtain)
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Planning, Development and Infrastructure Act and Regulations and other related legislation.
  • Extensive experience in statutory planning within local or state government
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain positive relationships
  • Demonstrated commitment to outstanding customer service
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a range of digital tools and technologies
  • Experience in managing Court Appeals
