Create Your Own Leather Journal

Craft a leather journal with leather artist Jess Boyle of Rustic Wren

Create Your Own Journal is part of our Handmade Christmas program at Fabrik.

In this workshop Jess will show you how to create a unique Leather Wrap-Around Travelers Journal, complete with specially made A5 paper notebooks that will fit snuggly into your journal.

Your Wrap-Around Journal will feature elastics in the spine and a secure leather strap to hold everything together.

After crafting your journal, you will learn to make the three thin paper notebooks using simple bookbinding and hand-sewing technique.

By the end of the workshop you will have completed your Leather Wrap-Around Travelers Journal to keep or gift to a family member or special friend during the festive season.

About the artist:

As a leather architect based in the picturesque Lenswood of the Adelaide Hills, Jess has a deep passion for crafting leather goods that tell a story. Her creative journey started as a child sewing patchwork quilts, and with 20 years of sewing experience, she ventured into the world of leather. This foundation allowed her to discover the joy of creating leather journals, while combining her love for stationery with craftsmanship.

In 2016 Jess founded Rustic Wren, where she specialises in designing and handcrafting leather journals, brushrolls, and bags that serve not just as functional items but as beautiful treasures that hold cherished memories.

Jess loves to share her skills and knowledge with others through workshops, empowering her students to explore their creativity and appreciate the artistry of leather crafting.
