The session provides information on dementia, the way we communicate and how changes in communication can occur as a result of dementia.
You will gain knowledge on:
- different types and symptoms of dementia
- the brain and its function in relation to communication
- strategies for more effective communication.
Suitable for: Family carers and family members of people living with dementia. This session is not suitable for professionals employed in the health or aged care sectors.
Dementia Australia's facilitators have specialist dementia knowledge, skills and experience. This session is delivered interactively, you will be encouraged to share your experiences alongside other participants giving you an opportunity to develop new support networks.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
It is ideal if you can bring your ticket. However, if you have completed your registration we will have your details and forgetting your ticket won’t be a problem.
