Fabric & the Conservation of Cultures
From the collection of Mary Jose, Fabric of Life
A conservator preserves material culture, allowing us to understand the cultural life of its makers through tangible objects.
An exhibition of textiles from Central Asia, India, and Australia, each carrying the story of its origins. While the identity of the artisan is not always known, the textiles themselves reveal their heritage through their design, materials, and construction techniques, offering a glimpse into the cultural traditions and skills of the makers.
