Gaming is a common leisure activity - 65% of Australians regularly play and 93% of households own at least one gaming device. According to recent research though 3% of young people in Australia have what is termed a gaming disorder, while a further 10% fall into a hazardous category.

Gaming disorder is defined as:

‘a pattern of gaming behaviour (“digital-gaming” or “video-gaming”) characterised by impaired control over gaming, increasing priority given to gaming over other activities to the extent that gaming takes precedence over other interests and daily activities, and continuation or escalation of gaming despite the occurrence of negative consequences.’ *

Game On is a free interactive and informative session facilitated by two experienced counsellors from the Gambling Help Service. The focus of the session will be on providing support for parents and caregivers to assist the young person to manage their gaming with useful strategies.

This session is for parents and caregivers and is presented by the Gambling Help Service, a program of Relationships Australia SA. The Gambling Help Service helps people who are affected by gambling harm in South Australia with therapeutic and financial counselling, peer support and group programs.
