In this Fabrik workshop textile artist Carolyn Corletto will teach you how to create delicate teabag artworks depicting nature. Your teabag image of a bird, an insect or a flower will be rendered in pen and watercolour, and may be embellished with simple or decorative stitching with cotton thread.
After an engaging afternoon of painting and hand sewing your teabag, you will have completed an artwork ready for framing. You will also feel confident and inspired to create more miniature artworks with teabags for yourself or as gifts for loved ones.
All materials will be provided but you are welcome to bring your own image or extra used and dried teabags if you are a fast worker.
About the artist:
Carolyn is a multidisciplinary artist working in painting, sculpture, textiles, ceramics and assemblage. She is passionate about all forms of making. Before becoming a full-time artist, Carolyn worked in garden design, taught quilting, crochet and applique. Exhibiting widely in South Australia and interstate, in 2025 she won the SALA Advertiser Contemporary Art Prize for her installation of 80 crocheted breasts.
Carolyn works out of Collective Haunt Studios, Norwood with 20 other artists. She loves to share her skills and knowledge with others, and has opened her own studio for events and workshops in the beautiful surrounds of McLaren Vale.
