A striking new silhouette artwork has been installed in Lenswood to celebrate the resilience and contribution of pioneering women in the Adelaide Hills.

The artwork, a figure of a woman walking to market, was created by the Forest Range and Lenswood History Group. It honours the many women who, in the early days of settlement, would walk long distances from the district to sell produce at the Adelaide markets.

The silhouette is located on Stafford Road, near number 87, at the border of Forest Range, Lenswood, and Lobethal. This site was carefully chosen as it marks the path travelled by women from Lobethal as they made their way to the city.

The project has been proudly supported by the Lions Club of Onkaparinga, Klose’s Supermarkets, the SA Country Women’s Association Woodside branch, and the Lobethal Museum and Archives.

Official Launch

To officially launch the installation, the community is invited to a celebration at the Forest Range Hall on Sunday 12 October 2025 at 2 pm. The event will feature guest speakers and an afternoon tea. The hall is located at 1263 Lobethal Road, Forest Range.
