Located in Woodside, a once-ordinary water tank has been transformed into a stunning public artwork, breathing new life into the local landscape.

The Woodside Water Tank Mural, created by Adelaide Hills artist TaylrJay, is a vibrant artwork that celebrates the region’s rich biodiversity, cultural heritage, and historical industries.

Canvas of Community and Nature

The mural features intricate depictions of native flora such as Slender Mint, Correa, and Long Purple-flag, alongside representations of local wildlife and historical elements like a wooden sluice, once used in the area’s gold mining operations. These elements beautifully narrate Woodside’s connection to water and its natural environment.

Community-Driven Creativity

This artistic transformation was spearheaded by the community group Love Woodside, and was made possible by Arts South Australia, along with the Australian Government's Regional Arts Fund, which supports arts in regional and remote Australia.

More Than Just a Tank

Beyond its visual appeal, the tank continues to serve a vital role in the community. Nerissa Walton, Project Coordinator for Love Woodside, noted,

It has turned out even better than we imagined, and we thank SA Water for willingly providing the canvas for this project. The site has been transformed into a source of joy for our community

— Nerissa Walton, Project Coordinator

Kellie McDonald, SA Water’s Manager of Brand and Community Connection, noted,

The tank plays a critical role in delivering clean, safe drinking water to local homes and businesses, and this was a fantastic opportunity to enhance its presence as a public asset.

— Kellie McDonald, SA Water

The mural stands as a landmark of pride, drawing visitors and locals alike to appreciate the fusion of utility and artistry.
