Have your say on managing stormwater in the Gawler River
The Gawler River Floodplain Management Authority (GRFMA) has released a draft Stormwater Management Plan for the Gawler River, and community feedback is now invited.
This plan has been developed by the GRFMA, of which the Adelaide Hills Council is currently a member, in collaboration with the local Landscape Boards, the Department for Environment and Water, and other key stakeholders across the region.
The GRFMA would like to hear your thoughts:
- Is there anything you believe the plan has missed or not fully considered?
- Which of the proposed projects do you think should be prioritised?
You can read the full draft Stormwater Management Plan or view a summary document that highlights the key elements. Feedback can be submitted via the Playford Engagement Hub.
We thank the City of Playford for supporting this consultation by hosting the materials on its platform.
Adelaide Hills Council position
Adelaide Hills Council has formally requested to withdraw from the GRFMA and is currently in the process of seeking a determination from the Minister for Local Government. This decision was based on several key considerations, including:
- The Council’s limited involvement in the Gawler River catchment area compared to other member councils;
- Minimal direct benefit to the Adelaide Hills community from GRFMA projects;
- The disproportionate cost burden of planned capital works that provide limited relevance to our region.
