One of our Home Service users has just published a historical time-travel novel
We're excited to see that local writer and keen Adelaide Hills Council Libraries Home Service borrower, Janet Storey has published a historical time-travel novel, 'The Interloper: A 21st Century Woman Trapped in the 1820s'.
After experiencing her husband’s death, a young woman seeks solstice with family in Scotland. In the midst of a wild storm, she is catapulted into the 19th century where mystery, romance, and a new life begin.
We asked Janet a few questions in the wake of this great achievement.
How long have you been a member of the Adelaide Hills Library Service? How long have you been a Home Services borrower?
I have been a member of the Hills library in Stirling for approximately nine years and a Home Service borrower about five years ago.
What do the library Home Services mean to you?
At the time of applying for home borrowing I was undergoing physio treatment for back problems and am an avid reader.
What inspired you to write 'The Interloper: A 21st Century Woman Trapped in the 1820s'? What is your book about?
My husband’s death led me into the healing zone when I finished work. I needed to be kept busy not only physically but mentally as well. I launched into what has been my hobbies for many years of painting and writing. It gave me a purpose especially when I moved from Williamstown to Aldgate where I had no friends. I still find it difficult to make friends here, so my writing and painting keep me occupied.
To be more specific regarding what inspired me, I reminisced about my early memories of coming to Australia as a new bride, which gave me the reason for the opening of my book. I have always been fascinated with time travel and went from there.
Congratulations, Janet!
