Mount Torrens Community Forum brings locals together

Tuesday 1 July 2025 | Mount Torrens Soldiers Memorial Hall

The Mount Torrens Community Forum was held on Tuesday evening, bringing together around 25 community members, Elected Members, and Adelaide Hills Council staff for an engaging and informative night.

Held in the cosy Mount Torrens Soldiers Memorial Hall, the event provided a warm escape from the winter chill. The crowd enjoyed delicious catering by 'Tea for Two Ladies' from Woodside, with the homemade sausage rolls proving to be a clear favourite.

The evening featured a series of short presentations:

  • Acting Mayor Nathan Daniell gave an update on the newly endorsed 2025/26 Annual Business Plan and shared highlights from the Adelaide Hills Council Residents Guide.

  • Sarah Pollard, Chair of Discover Mount Torrens, spoke about the recent History Month exhibition and introduced the Discover Mount Torrens History Walking App.

  • Jodie Morbey (Manager, Libraries and Customer Service) and Miranda Hampton (Team Leader, Community Development) presented on local library services and upcoming community development opportunities.

Following the presentations, participants broke into groups to share ideas and feedback on key topics:

  • Building stronger community connections: Programs and services locals would like to see.

  • Planning for the future of Mount Torrens: What matters most in local housing and town planning, and who should be involved.

  • All-ages community events: Suggestions for local events and festivals that bring everyone together.

The forum wrapped up at 8pm, with many attendees staying back to continue the conversation. It was a night full of ideas, inspiration, and community spirit, and a great reminder of the value of coming together to shape the future of Mount Torrens.
